FAQ:
What steps are involved in the self-assessment procedure?
Answer:
The self-assessment procedure consists of five steps: intro, dialogue, analysis, review, and feedback.
- Intro The facilitator discusses the following with the programme manager: the objectives, scope, capacity, deadline, panel members and dissemination of the self-assessment procedure.
- Dialogue The dialogue consists of assessing the programme objectives and intended effects; assessing agency activities and associated effects; and assessing the overall effect and quality level.
- Analysis The facilitator analyses the results of the dialogue, using the software tool. The tool produces the 'result matrix'.
- Review After revealing potential areas of improvement, exactly how these areas can be improved might not be as evident. Ideally, therefore, the assessment process should be complemented by a physical panel review. This is in order to capture the opinions of other programme or line managers of the agency and external subject-matter experts, about how to actually improve specific processes.
- Feedback Feedback to programme and line management completes the process.
